On Tuesday ( 18 December 2018) Prime minister held a meeting with Bollywood actors and producers at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai several pertinent issue concerning the film industry were discussed in the meeting , one of them being GST on movie tickets. New Delhi, In a christmas bonaza to the common man , the GST council on saturday reduced tax rates on 23 goods and services, including movie tickets , Tv/ monitors screens and power banks exempted frozen and preserved vegetables from the levy. Monitors and Tv screens up to 32 inches and power banks will attract 18%. GST, as against 28% earlier .
After the GST meeting, it was announced that tax rates were cut for 33 items, including some consumer goods such as television , tyres , monitors and movie Tickets.
Akshay kumar took to twitter and expressed his joy and share their views about GST for film tickets have been reduced.He wrote ” Quick action and how! Within a few days of our meeting with hon. Ajay Devgn wrote” The voice of the film industry was finally heard and immediate action taken, thanks to @narendra modi ji. For movie tickets priced below Rs 100 the tax has been reduced from 18 % to 12% now.
Aamir khan expressed the same views as well …”Heartfelt thank you to Honorable PM and the govt of India for considering the request of the film industry for reduction in GST.
